Father's day weekend 2014

We went to the outdoor swimming pool for the first time this summer yesterday.  We learned the hard way last summer (on Father's day) that the activity pool isn't open on Sunday mornings, so we decided to have our pool outing for Father's day on Saturday this year.  It was a gorgeous clear summer morning and not too hot.  While we were there the clouds rolled in though and it actually felt a bit cold when we'd get out of the relatively warm water.

Evan had fun squirting water with his water shooter thing and also practicing swimming with his floats on.  Emma refused to take her morning nap in the stroller, so after I gave up on that I went ahead and nursed her and got her in her swim suit and we joined Evan and John in the pool.

And now ready to get in the pool

Then today John had to work, but we started out the day by letting Evan and Emma give him their gift to him before he left for work. Their gift was a big wall map of the world. John had been wanting one of these to go on Evan's bedroom wall so they could learn about all the
places in the world together...so it was an appropriate gift I thought.

Happy Father's Day!

After John got home tonight we had dinner...and lots of John's favorite treats that we had gotten for him at the store today.   Evan picked out some yummy chocolate cupcakes that were decorated for father's day (#1 dad, etc). The fudgy chocolate frosting on them was so good,  but messy. Evan had been dying to have one all day and when he finally got one after dinner he practically dove face first into it. I should have gotten a picture...he looked like he had a moustache and goatee. John let me clean him up. :)   Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband.  He is a great daddy and our kids and I love him so much!
