He's started having more tantrums, being more demanding, and saying "no" as a response to almost anything (even when he's clearly grunting, if I ask him if he's making a poopy he'll say "no" and then continue looking at me with his strained face...lol). Sometimes we're starting to think no means yes with him.
Evan likes to roll around on the living room floor. John participates in this now with him, which I think he likes even more. He likes to ride "horsey" by bouncing on my leg. He likes to jump, with help from us, but he can also get both his feet off the ground a little bit on his own now. He wiggles all around the house making cute little sounds (I don't think he knows how to run without making a sound or saying "running"). He is just adorable! And he loves to play outside. Thank goodness it's now starting to warm up for spring!
He still loves to sweep and now can do so with his own broom that he got for Easter. Granted...he just pushes it around still (and sometimes swings it up and around!), but someday soon I'm sure he'll figure out how to do it better and it will become a true chore helper! He also likes to play with zippers, on his jacket, his changing pad, wherever he finds them. And he's also started to like doing his toddler wooden puzzles, and is getting quite good at them.
He's continued to have more fears of noises and things. Examples include his shadow, the ice falling from the ice maker in the freezer, windy nights blowing things outside, water dripping from the shower to the tub after his bath, and my cell phone vibrating when he's nearby. No matter what, when he gets scared he always likes to run to us for a "nugel" and who could deny him that! Either way, as we introduce and expose him to these sounds, shadows, or whatever it may be, he usually comes to like them or accept them better. For example, we also got him his own flashlight for Easter, so that now he can make his own shadows because now he wants to see his shadow all the time!
Evan is really good now about giving us hugs and kisses...when we arrive home from work, to pick him up at daycare (or drop him off and say good bye), and before bed. Sometimes he'll give me kisses whenever I just ask for one. I love it!
He's getting very good at feeding himself with his spoon and fork now. Granted, he still gets messy, but never as bad as I had envisioned he could. He eats his oatmeal in the mornings on his own, and often insists on feeding himself ("self!") at other mealtimes too. Of course he eats his little sandwiches and other finger foods on his own always.

He's outgrown most of his 18 month clothes now, so is pretty much wearing only 24 months/2T. He's still in size 4 pampers.
He still loves his books. He's lately become very fond of pulling most of the books off his bookshelf in his bedroom. However, he's also lately gotten pretty good at helping me put them back on the shelf before bedtime too. He's also getting to that point where he can flip through a book on his own and almost "read" it to himself, or at least look for his favorite pages. As he does below in this video I took this morning of him "reading" his books.
He is speaking (and repeating) more and more words and is using better pronunciations of words. Examples are penguin, which was "puh-ghee" is now "pen-ghen", and bless you was "bess you" and now is more like the real thing. He is learning his letters and numbers at what I believe is a remarkable pace! He recognizes and says all numbers 1-10 in his "Counting Kisses" book. He says what letter it is when we show him one, or he'll sometimes notice a letter in a book and say it while we're reading the book. He also sometimes just starts counting or saying his alphabet out of the blue to pass the time. He doesn't have it all down perfect yet, but he knows and recites certain sequences of the letters or numbers, such as 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and then he'll do a whole bunch of numbers that sound like "sixteen" over and over until he'll say very loudly and proudly "tenty" (twenty)! He can also say his name pretty good now too.
And to top everything off, yesterday, on Evan's 20 month birthday, he pee'd in his potty chair for the very first time. Then he did it again right away after that. (I think he was pretty excited about the first time and thus had to go back and do it again!) While we haven't actively started potty training with him, we've been prepping for it by reading him a story book about a boy learning to use the potty chair, having his potty chair out and available for him to see, sit on and get used to, and then also talking him through the steps of using the potty when we would use the adult version (you know he was always following us in the bathroom anyway, why not make it a learning experience!). However, Evan's been starting to tell us when he's going "wee wee", and so last night when he said "wee wee" during his bedtime diaper change...we figured why not put him on his potty to see what he'd do. After sitting him there we told him okay go wee wee now, and sure enough he did! We were all very excited!

That's awesome about the potty! Nora loves to sit on the potty but has not made the connection that she's actually supposed to pee in there- she usually tells me she wants to go *after* she's already gone- doh! Ah well. :)
