We made it to my work holiday party for kids again this year, where we always get a photo with Santa. They had a lot of fun things for the kids to do this year, including a science exhibit with fun little activities that the kids enjoyed. The kids enjoyed a "kid food" lunch of chicken nuggets, mini corndogs, and cheese pizza, and then we decorated cookies and gift bags while we waited for our turn to see Santa.
Prior to this, I was really unsure what Evan would ask for from Santa. Unlike last year, he'd been telling us all sorts of (mostly really expensive) things he would ask for from Santa, including a motor scooter (he saw it in a Target ad for $250 and for kids 12 and older!) and his Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage he had been watching on YouTube. However, he surprised us all and told Santa he wanted a transformer car with remote control. He also had no reservations sitting right next to Santa and talking to him. Emma, on the other hand, was really shy and nervous. She first of all refused to take off her vest for the photo. Then she snuggled tightly into me and kept her back to him as we sat down. Toward the end of the photos she started to warm up a bit and let out a cute little smile, which made the photo below perfect. After photos, she did eventually turn toward him and start talking to him. She first said "I'm a big girl" to him. So cute. Then he asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she said "stickers". I wish we had a photo of her interaction with him because it was just darling.

Santa also makes an annual visit to our neighborhood and we haven't made it in previous years, but we did this year. It was another great test to see if the kids stuck with the same answers to what they wanted and sure enough they did! This time Emma was not as shy either, as they both sat right on his lap. The other nice thing about this visit is that I was taking the pictures so I got one of her talking to him. So sweet.
Such a sweet moment for my brave little girl!
