As we did last year, we joined in the local Halloween parade and "trick-or-treat street" event (where downtown business hand out candy) the Saturday before Halloween. We all garnered new costumes this year. Evan as an astronaut (who kept asking when he was going to get to go to his space ship the whole day…I think he really thought he'd get to go to one!), John as the gorgeous Top Gun pilot Maverick, and Emma as a cute orange and black, Halloween kitty cat. I also donned a pointy hat and striped tights to be a witch this year. We met up with some of our friends who have a little girl Evan's age, and the two of them had a great time! It was a really hot and sunny day for this time of year (got up over 80 F, 27 C). By the end of the morning we were all glad to strip off our costumes and put on cooler clothes! This is a rarity for Halloween indeed! Typically the challenge at Halloween time is to figure out how to put enough layers of clothes on underneath your costume so you don't get cold!
Now today we'll get to all put our costumes back on for actual trick-or-treating in our neighborhood tonight. I know Evan will be super excited to get even more candy! More to tell from today's adventures soon...

They held hands, marched, ran, and danced together during the parade. At this point, they had gotten away from the rest of the parade "pack" and made a parade of their own in the middle of the road!
We did trick-or-treating at the local businesses after the parade, and Emma practiced her walking.
