He loves to sit in this chair with my Boppy pillow to hold her.
Firsts:
-First time meeting his baby sister and being a big brother
-First time sleeping in his big boy room all night on his own two nights ago! (We moved his crib in there and he helped watch us move all of his other stuff over too. Between the comfort of his normal bed/crib and maybe also his blanket with his favorite tag to tickle his nose as he falls asleep, he amazingly went to sleep without a problem in his new room! Now we'll just have to transition him out of the crib slowly over the next few months, but at least he's moved into the new room!)
-First strawberries! (and no allergic reaction)
-First cheeseburger (eaten like a big kid!)
-First pop fountain experience (though he was a bit timid)
Growth and Development:
Size 7 shoes, size 2T clothes (though may need to move into 3T for shirts soon so they're long enough), and Size 5 pampers diapers. He weighs around 30 lbs.
Evan just got his 2nd haircut last week and it went much better than his first. We took him to a regular hair salon (not the kiddy one as before) and while he refused to sit on the chair himself, which had be worried it wasn't going to go well at all, once they suggested he sit on daddy's lap he was fine. Didn't cry, watched other people getting their haircut while he was getting his cut, and just talked to the lady. He did insist on her not using a hair dryer (to blow the hair off him) or trimmers. He told her to put them back in the drawer. Lol.
All the hair on his lap kind of freaked him out a little bit. But he was a good sport really.
Evan really talks up a storm these days. Sometimes when he says something we don't understand, he'll say it over and over and when we admit to him we don't understand him he'll try to pronounce it better. It's amazing to watch his language develop in this way! An example was at bedtime the other night he was telling me that he was getting his diaper changed (as I walked into his room while John was getting him changed). We both had no idea what he was saying at first, and after he repeated it several times and we both didn't know, I told him that I was sorry but didn't understand him. He then tried again and it was very clear he was saying diaper change. He can really use his words and language now to tell us what he wants, or doesn't want. However, I need to note that his way of saying "I want" is quite whiny, as it really just sounds like a whiny sound, such that he's slurring the words together into a whinge than words (kind of like "I-un" very shrill at the end). Not my favorite of his sounds.
He also has started to refer to everything as his...using the word "my". Examples, "my computer", "my piano", "my Thomas", etc...even though they are not his alone, or at all. Otherwise he still refers to himself in third person as "Evan" for things...and still uses "you" to mean "me".
Evan is getting really good at singing. Not that he carries tunes well, but that he's learning lyrics to songs at a rapid pace. We sing a few songs pretty regularly with him, and he'll usually help fill in the last word of each phrase, but sometimes I'll catch him singing more of the words now too. Favorite songs right now are: Home among the gum trees (an Aussie classic), Yankee Doodle, Zip ah dee doo dah, and Rock a bye baby. We usually sing at least one of these before bedtime with him, and he's occasionally sung these to Emma now too.
Mealtime:
Evan sometimes eats really well...for example, he ate salad for first time the other night and he loves to eat yogurt and prunes lately of all things. But with one meal that he'll eat well, another one will be mostly wasted as it's just so hit or miss feeding a toddler. He loves to snack and probably snacks way too much. He also wants to drink like a "big boy", which means drinking out of a cup without a lid/sippy spout. While he does this fairly well, he'll usually spill so we have to be careful giving him a drink like that. He still loves his junk food: ice cream, cake, cookies, "booty", and also likes bacon, cheese, fruit (not so big on bananas lately though). He also loves to go to Starbucks and eat whipped cream from the top of frappacinos. He's using a fork better these days (especially now that he has one with metal tines to poke things better), and when he does use utensils he's still mostly a lefty.

The past month or two Evan has really started to want cereal for breakfast. He particularly likes Cheerios or Kix cereal and definitely with milk in it. Then he will drink the milk out of the bowl too! He's had strawberries now and didn't have any reaction (yay!), though he doesn't care for fresh strawberries as much as raspberries (maybe it's the seedy skin texture?).
Playtime:
Evan loves to dance (i.e. run in circles with music on) and he loves to play computer/cell phone games. He loves to watch Thomas & Friends and Barney. He also likes to watch "firetruck", which is a couple episodes of a show called Mighty Machines (he likes King the platform fire truck and Dusty the street sweeper who sings a silly song he really likes). Now when he sees a firetruck he called it King ("Mommy, it's King!", or "I see King!").
He still likes to do puzzles (and is quite good at them, especially his favorite new truck puzzle) and likes to play at the park and go for walks. His favorite books (that we read over and over) are "Tootle" (a little golden book about a train), "My new baby" (a book about a new baby in the family), "The thinks you can think" (a Dr. Seuss book), and "The monster at the end of this book" (which he calls "monster"). He likes to "play" the piano, help daddy vacuum and clean, help tend to the garden, and also just wrestle around with John.
