Moms unite!

The week before I went back to work three other new moms, along with their babies, came over to my house for  "play date", but really it was more of a mommy date given how young all of our babies are.  All of these women and their spouses were in childbirth class with me and John.  Every Thursday evening during the month of July we gathered at the hospital and learned all the facts about childbirth, along with comfort measures we could use during labor.  By the last of these four classes, our class attendance had dwindled due to a few of the moms going into pre-term labor.  If Evan would have come one week sooner, we would have been in the same boat.   However, luckily Evan waited long enough for us to finish our childbirth course.

Our instructor had a class reunion dinner in late September to allow us all to gather and meet each other's babies.  From that point on, we've kept in contact via email and Facebook.  It's great to know other moms with babies of a similar age.  It also turned out that every mom in the class was a first time mom too, thus helping us all connect just that much more.

Our babies nursed or slept while we sat around my living room asking each other questions about nursing, pumping, daycare, baby sleeping habits, and other baby-related topics.  We also did discuss a few non-baby topics, but really we all knew our lives now revolved around our little ones so it wasn't long before we'd be back on the topic of our infants.  When it was time for everyone to go, they packed their babies into their car seats and we gathered by the door for a few final bits of conversation.  At this point, most all of their babies had awoken and were fussing, as if they were saying "Come on, let's get this show on the road!"  I found this chorus of baby cries awfully cute, and had to snap a picture and get some video.  I then thought, why not bring Evan over to capture all four babies together?!

What a cute bunch of babies, all born in late July through late August 2011.

Of the four babies that day, Evan was the second oldest, and definitely was the biggest.  All of these other babies were 5-6 lbs at birth, so it's no wonder why he's bigger now, given he started out so much bigger!  The other two boys had cute knit hats, and I think I'll have to get one for Evan somehow.  The hand-knit hat we were given from Sandy (via Nana Louise) is already too small for his head!   :( Amazing how fast they grow!
