In the afternoon we made cookies for Santa and we cooked quite a feast for our Christmas Eve dinner. Louise cooked her delicious roast lamb, we roasted a turkey breast wrapped in bacon, roasted potatoes and butternut squash, baked green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole, and some fresh-baked dinner rolls. I also made fresh cranberry sauce and sliced up a can of cranberry sauce too (because that's tradition!).
The dinner took a bit longer to cook than we planned (maybe because we totally max'd out our oven capacity…notice all the "baked" and "roasted" items in the above list!), so we munched a bit beforehand, during which time John treated Emma to her first Cherry Ripe! We also took some pictures with our Santa hats and reindeer antlers on.
Ready to eat!!
Before bed we got some family photos by the Christmas tree. As usual, there wasn't one that had everyone looking at the camera at the same time, but we did get some that I thought were still pretty cute.
Evan set out his cookies and milk for Santa and we hung our stockings in the living room. Nanna read Evan "An Aussie night before Christmas", and we put the kids to bed. All was going as well as could be expected, until we were woken up by Emma around 2am. She was sick and puked all over John and her room, as well as all over her nice Christmas jammies. :( (No photos of my kids on Christmas morning by the tree in their Christmas jammies this year…) I guess there was a stomach bug going around. Luckily after we cleaned her up she went back to bed alright, but it sure put a damper on how our Christmas Day went down (not to mention John and I were exhausted from missing sleep). More on that to come next…
