I know in this country we don't really refer to the day after Christmas as Boxing Day, but my Aussie family does and it is one word shorter to say. :) Anyway, on our Boxing Day this year we awoke to a winter wonderland given all the snow that had fallen on Christmas, and of course we had to get out and play!
Ready to get outside!
We bundled everyone up and went out to make snowballs and snowmen and snow angels. Sadly, our snow wasn't packing very good for the former two, but Sarah and Louise both made beautiful snow angels.
Emma got out in it and seemed to enjoy exploring and walking around, but of course just like Evan at this age, she found it frustrating that it was hard to walk in the snow and especially upsetting when she fell (or face planted!) in it. However, she was a pretty good sport and kept at it and didn't really cry. Nonetheless, it was nearly her morning nap time, so after she took a little wagon ride through the snow I took her inside to put her down while the rest of the group stayed outside to play some more.
Before (left) and after (right) her first face plant in the snow.
Evan really enjoyed helping shovel (or at least playing with the shovel) and helping Daddy push the snow blower. I can imagine that in a few years he'll be wanting to do it all by himself, and perhaps John will be glad to have the eager help! :)
I made them all hot cocoa to drink when they came back inside. Evan sat next to me at the table and enjoyed his hot cocoa and a cookie with me. It was one of those sweet moments where he said he wanted to sit next to me and we just had a mommy-son moment.
