Summer road trippin': Part 3, Durango!

Continuing on our road trip from Arizona, we headed into southwestern Colorado.  On our way we passed the Arizona-New Mexico border again, which on our way to the cabin Evan had exclaimed that the rock formations near the border looked like hands coming up out of the ground.  I asked him what he would call those rocks and he said "Handstones".  So, we dubbed this region the Handstones and I snapped a pic on our way back past it, with a nice train passing by too (there were heaps of trains running along the tracks along I-40!).

We found a condo on AirBnB that was a bit north of town, but in a beautiful location and that had tennis courts.  Evan found a love for playing tennis, which he chose to do instead of going to the indoor pool that was available!

During the day, we headed into Durango to see some sights.  We first stopped at Honeyville.  There we saw bees, and tasted honey wines and spirits.  We loaded up on some sweet goods and then headed into town.  There we checked out the Train Museum at he Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad depot and then got some lunch.

After lunch we went to the Wildlife Museum and fed some fish at the hatchery.  The kids loved feeding the fish!  At one point when we were out feeding them, a worker came to feed them and you could see thousands of fish along the "racetrack" as they called it.

On our way back to our condo we stopped briefly to see the Pinkerton hot springs, which looked like a trickling "pimple" on the side of the highway.  It didn't smell like those in Yellowstone, but was pretty neat to just see on the side of the road!  After getting back to our condo, we played tennis and got ready for our drive the next day along the Million Dollar Highway to Ouray...more on that coming soon!
