Catching up: Easter 2017

Evan was very excited for Easter this year.  He really loves hunting for eggs.  This year we had a neighborhood hunt on Saturday, and then had our own private hunt on Sunday.  We also died some eggs, which we made into deviled eggs after all the fun of coloring them was done.

This half blue, half green egg was one of my favs.

Look at all of those colorful eggs!

Evan could not contain his excitement when it was time to go to the neighborhood egg hunt. This hunt happens every year in the neighborhood next to us.  This year Evan had to move up to the 5- 9 yrs section, while Emma was in the 4 and under section still.  It was harder for him, because the older kids cleaned up that section pretty fast.  Yet, he still got one of the "big prize" eggs.  In Emma's section, she cleaned up pretty well, and also found the "big prize" egg in her section.  The big prizes were pez dispenser packs, which they really liked.

Ready to go find eggs!

After the egg hunt, we were treated to a visit by a police officer and a fire truck.  The kids got to sit inside, and even the grown ups thought it was pretty neat to sit inside and check out the fire truck. :)

On Easter Sunday morning, the kids awoke to a couch full of gifts and chocolate eggs hidden around the house. This was the first year the Easter Bunny came in the morning.  In previous years, he always came while the kids were taking their afternoon naps. However, Evan doesn't nap anymore, and Emma sometimes doesn't either, so the Easter Bunny modified his schedule. :) The kids wanted to paint right away--they were so excited to get paints!

Buckets of chocolate eggs!

Then we all got dressed and realized that the Easter Bunny had hidden lots of eggs in the backyard!  More egg hunting!  The kids were thrilled!  Evan was very good at finding eggs, but Emma did pretty well too.  There were candies hidden in some of the eggs this year, which made the kids get really excited when they found an egg that had something in it when they shook it.

He ran from egg to egg so fast!

They even shared eggs they found with each other.

Evan found this egg and I noticed a huge wasp nest in the corner of the fence by him afterward.  Glad he didn't get stung! :O

Full buckets!

After the egg hunt, we got ready to go to our friends' house for the rest of the holiday.  There we had a pot luck meal and the kids got to do more egg hunting there too. I think they had a great holiday!
Happy Easter!
