On a typical weekend morning, Nanna takes Hollie for a walk along the beach. We had to wait for Sarah to come home so we had a second car to do this, so this past weekend we made sure to hit up the beach with Hollie right away. It was a bright, sunny day for the walk, and the tide was high and waves were rough. But the kids had a great time. Emma warmed up to the ocean finally and took her water shoes off and wanted to walk in the water (a first for the trip so far!).
Evan enjoyed climbing the rocks at "the island" (as he called it) and finding shells that he could then throw back into the ocean. Emma, on the other hand, was collecting shells and other things she found as treasure. When we got to the end of the ocean side of the beach, where the rocks stood out ("the island") the water on the river side was shallow and calm, which allowed us to play in the water a bit and cool off. That's where I found the best seashells! I found several that were not broken and that already had little holes at the top, that I am hoping to make into necklaces! We got some fun pictures on the rocks and then headed back. Since it was Good Friday, most of the shops were closed (so we couldn't get the fish and chips we were craving), but at least we had some chocolate hot cross buns at the house already so went home for a good snack. :)
