Hanging out at Nanna's house

On the days we aren't out and about to the beach or markets or some other outing, we've been having a blast at Nanna's house.  Here is a brief list of things the kids are enjoying here:

1) Hollie, the dog.  They love to find her, pat her, hug her (as in the photo below), feed her, and give her treats and snacks.  They enjoy taking her for walks in the mornings.  Evan's gotten to the point he likes to hold her lead when we take her on walks. Everyone keeps saying we need to get a dog soon given how much they love her and are obsessed with her.  We'll see...but for now, they have Hollie.  One downside to this obsession is that one day when Evan was searching everywhere trying to find her, he got too close a wasps nest and got stung on his hand by a paper wasp.  These things don't look very big and menacing, but I hear the sting is like a hot poker...poor guy!  He screamed pretty bad, but got over it quicker than I thought he would.  It turned pretty red the next day, but then went away fairly quickly.  Don't worry, John torched that nest (literally) to ensure it doesn't bother the kids again. :O

2) Bubbles: Of course, what better thing to do outdoors on a warm day!?  The best is when Nanna figured out how to make a "bubble machine" by putting the bubble wands in front of the fan.  Bubbles are such good, simple fun!

3) Swimming in the pool: It's pretty cold water, but on some of the hot and sticky days it's worth braving the initial cold shock for a dip in the pool.  Plus, Evan's loving it and he's doing a great job swimming around on his own and now learning to dive for toys at the bottom.

4) Tennis: Nanna got the kids a tennis on a pole thing (a tennis ball attached by a string to a pole in the ground).  Evan wants to play this all.the.time.  Every new person that comes in the gate is a new potential person to play it with him.  No joke, he asks everyone to play tennis with him, even people visiting who he's never met before!

5) Play dough: Nanna made a batch before we arrived, and both kids have enjoyed playing with it.  Emma, in particular, usually spends some time each day at the little kid table playing with it.

6) Riding bikes: Nanna found a used little boys bike for Evan, and he of course has enjoyed riding it around.  Mostly back and forth on the verandah, but also out in the culdesac, where he learned he can make red skid marks with the red tires!

7) Other shenanigans, like this little bit with the stroller or piggy back rides with Evan's cousin Ryan.

8) Snacks, especially fruit!  Nanna calls these kids fruit bats, because they are eating so much fruit!  They especially can't get enough of watermelon, grapes, and strawberries.  They've also eaten quite a bit of pineapple, bananas, pears, peaches, you name it! Add in other non-fruit snacks, like cheese and crackers, kabana, cheezels (a Cheetos type cheesy snack chip), biccies (Tim Tams, and other Arnott's cookies), Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs (caramel corn), and other Aussie treats.  They love Nutrigrain cereal for brekky, vanilla custard with bananas, crumpets with honey, and Emma (and I as well) love the yoghurt here.  Then there are the sweets, like ice blocks (Evan loves the Calipo minis), Freddo Frogs and Caramel Koalas (Cadbury chocolates), chocolate licorice bullets, Cherry Ripes, hot cross buns (especially the chocolate ones!), and now all of the chocolate eggs.  These kids are all about having lots of snacks!
