Last weekend Evan and I ran errands and met friends for a picnic at the park on Saturday. Evan fit into the baby swing at this park much better.
Holding on, having a ride in the swing.
He just had to adjust his hat. :)
Then last Sunday he had swimming lessons, which he still really doesn't feel comfortable at. I think it's the cold water that makes him "freeze" up. He just moans and grunts and whines. One swimming lesson a few weeks ago he outright just cried until I got him out of the water and warm. Once he gets comfortable with the temperature and his little rubber duckie, he's distracted enough to make it through the rest of the lesson, but in general he's not getting much out of it. We'll have to try taking him to the pool more in the summer, and find pools with warmer water. While he still has two weeks left of this class we enrolled him in, I'm not sure if we'll make it to the remaining lessons. Only if he wakes from his naps in time to go, as it doesn't help if he's cranky from not napping well or being woken from a nap to go to the lessons.
Also, last Sunday (March 18th), Evan showed me that he did indeed have a tooth coming in! It's on the bottom, slightly to the right of center. He just grabbed my finger that morning and put it in his mouth, for me to find something very sharp along his bottom gums! This past week since we confirmed that he is teething, we've been using baby oragel at night to help ease his discomfort.
This weekend was my birthday weekend and my dad and Margaret are visiting. This is the first time that Evan has gotten to meet his Papa, since my dad had been deployed to Africa for the past year. We've spent time going shopping and grilling out in the backyard, and just enjoying this beautiful weather we're still having.
Celebrating my birthday with my beloved Hingstas...
...and with my Dad and Margaret.
Up until this weekend Evan had still been constipated. After a follow up call to the doctor on Friday, we were advised to given him his first suppository. I must say it was sure nice to have a registered nurse (aka my dad) in the house to help administer that! It worked like a charm and helped clear out his system in just under an hour! I just hope we can keep him regular from now on!
While my dad's been visiting, Evan's been showing off some new tricks. First of all, he's clearly been "dancing" to music lately. Basically if there is music on he loves to stand (with help) and bounce his knees. When we test him by turning off the music and he stops until the music starts again! Evan has also started copying me and making an "ahhh" sound on call. He does this so that I either pat his or my hand over his mouth so that it makes an "ahwawawa" kind of sound while he says "ahhhh". He now even pulls my hand to his mouth sometimes and starts saying "ahhh" wanting me to move my hand back and forth for him. He sure is clever to have that figured out already I think!
He babbles a lot, but still not much in the "mama" department. Lots of "dada" and "nana" and other sounds though. He's started to scoot around the floor, a bit, and mostly backward. He'll get this crawling business figured out soon enough I'm sure, as time is still flying and he's growing up so fast. He's turning from a baby into a little boy in front of my eyes!
Just look at him wearing his "big boy" pajamas! My lil cutie pie!
