On day 2 of our trip to Wisconsin, it had gotten really cold. We pretty much started having John go pull up the car and warm it up before even thinking of getting the kids outside. Then we would rush to get them in the car so they were outside as little as possible. Our outing for the day was to the Madison Children's Museum. Evan loves children's museums so we knew it would be a hit. There were so many fun things to do! The kids started down on the lower level where Evan loved the wood slide and rope to climb back up it. Emma tried it too, but it was pretty fast for her so we had to help slow her down.

Emma enjoyed a lot of the areas too. She particularly liked pretend play areas, like the restaurant and the teepee with brooms and a baby cradle. She made pizzas and pies and poured us drinks in the restaurant and she changed the baby and swept up the house inside the teepee. She also found a shape puzzle that she liked. She did not like sitting on the saddle that was at the bottom of a slide that Evan went on over and over.
Emma is not so happy, while Evan is happily running off to climb up and go on the slide again!
Evan loved the climbing area that had many ways to get up to the top of a long tube slide. Whenever we didn't know where Evan had gone, he was usually back in the climbing apparatus. He also liked the giant gerbil wheel, though it took him awhile to figure out how to do it.

After the museum we picked up some pizza and headed back to Darilis' house for a bit. Then it was nap time at the hotel, during which time Alex and Evan swam in the hotel pool again. After that it was dinner back at Darilis' again. We had dinner at her house each night, which was nice to have her delicious home cooked meals (including flan, tostones, and other great Puerto Rican specialties!) and to be able to hang out with Alanis each day too.

Our last day of the trip was pretty relaxed. We took our time packing up in the hotel and then headed over to Darilis' house to hang out until it was time to go to the airport. The kids had so much fun playing together, making up games and laughing with loud, deep, and genuine laughter. For me, that was a major highlight of the trip.

The flight home went well. Both kids entertained themselves with their tablets. One thing about flying as a family of four now was that we couldn't all sit in one row together on the same side of the plane. Rather, we booked the three seats on one side and the aisle seat on the same row across the aisle. We figured John or I would sit in that seat, but both flights Evan ended up sitting there! On the flight to Wisconsin, we had him sit there temporarily as we got settled in the row (buckling in Emma's car seat, etc) and he decided he wanted to stay there. I think it was because the lady in the middle seat was really friendly with him. He chatted with her throughout the flight, showing her his Nabi and the games he was playing. On the flight home, there was another lady in the middle seat. While she was less chatty with him, she acknowledged him when he tried to show her things on his tablet. It was so amazing to see him sitting in the seat all by himself like a big boy. He was so brave and really acted like a seasoned traveler. He kept asking if we'd taken off yet and then when we were climbing he was asking if we had leveled off or if we were still going up. He loved every minute of it. Here's to hoping that our next flights with them will go as smoothly!
