A Sunday morning as a mom

Sitting on the couch at 9:10am after we just had a leisurely breakfast, I watch my two kids play in the living room in their pajamas. Emma pours me some hot tea and brings it to me in her tiny purple tea cups, and we both take a drink. Then she tells me she'll get me some more and runs back to her teapot. This time she brings me a cup and tells me to drink with both hands and that it's chocolate milk. We both drink it up, she pretty much chugs hers,  and she says "nummy." Having a two-year-old wait on you with pretend beverages in her cute little owl pajamas is pretty awesome.

Evan is flying his helicopter.  Literally.  It's a remote control little Apache and he's learned how to make it take off, fly around a bit, and then land on the landing pad, which is an upside down puzzle board. Then he grabs his mighty machine that he just got as a prize for keeping his pants dry overnight 7 days in a row,  and drives it around on the TV stand.

Meanwhile, Emma has switched her cooking duties over to making me some food. She brings over a pan and tells me to eat. She says "hold out your hand", and then she gently places the food in the palm of my hand and helps me move my hand toward my mouth to eat it. We both say "num num num". I asked her what she's made and she says it's pie. Yes! My favorite!

Soon she is done cooking and she climbs up on the couch behind me and starts doing spider up my back. She says "squeeze!" while she gently, or perhaps not so gently,  squeezes my shoulders. Next she cracks the egg on my head.  Then it's her turn she says. While she's on my lap, Evan runs over behind me to do spider up my back now. He's definitely not so gentle about it. He says "spider going up your back, squeeze!" Then once Emma's off my lap he climbs over me and slides off my lap onto the floor before climbing behind me to repeat the process, including sliding over my lap to the floor,  all over again.  And again.  And again.

It's now 9:23am. Life is good.
